About the Event:
On Nov 18, FERC issued a NOPR to open wholesale markets to distributed resources like Demand Response, VPPs, storage and microgrids. Here in California, hundreds of megawatts in 2017 and 2018 will be opened up to third party providers via the Big Three Utilities. These are just two major steps towards a major restructuring of the distribution grid. E&Y projects $500 billion will be spent in the next 5-7 years on this “Digital Grid” aka “Internet of Energy,” aka the “Energy SuperHighway”.
Addressing this pivotal shift in the California energy market, StrattonReport, CalCharge and the Transactive Energy Association present a panel of speakers exemplifying different niches in the “D.E.R. Value Chain”, who will assess and debate the different models by which the Grid 2.0 ownership and operational landscape will be structured and where each sees the opportunities and risks going forward.
This event serves to kick off a 2017 cycle of monthly symposia and “Working Lunches,” to take place in major California cities.
